Arthurs Pass

As it is going to rain all night, we decide to sleep in. We drive to Arthurs Pass, which connects the west coast with the east coast. There we chose the Temple Basin Track, which had a 97% recommendation in Witzis app... unfortunately we cannot confirm that. The path consisted of loose rubble and led steeply uphill in serpentines for about 600m. The view was absolutely disappointing, we saw the same as from the ground and it was not worth the effort. Completely depressed, we decided against another track that we originally wanted to do and instead drove towards Christchurch (Chch for short).

On the way, we passed Castle Hills, bizarre limestone formations, very nice to look at.

We spent the night about 40 minutes before Chch at one of the most luxurious free camping sites we had visited. The site was located directly next to a stream in a quiet forest area, equipped with motion sensor lights, tiled outhouses, and a wash basin.
