Villa de Leyva is a municipality in Colombia. This beautiful town can be found in the Recaute province of the Boyacá department. It was founded in the year 1572 and its old name was Villa de Santa María de Leyva. Since 1954, it has been one of the national monuments of Colombia. The typical architecture of the town is colonial style and it is known for representing the ancient cities of Colombia, without large buildings that could disturb the colonial atmosphere.
