Wednesday, 22.01, Oslo

This was the day of the power program. I had one more day for Oslo and an expensive city pass in my pocket that was eager to be used. So, quickly, as early as possible to the Norwegian Folk Museum. There, typical buildings from all eras and regions of Norway are erected in various thematic areas, which were dismantled on site and are therefore completely authentic. This allows you to teleport through the whole country. I liked it very much, especially the very old houses and the stave church.

Next stop: The Viking Ship Museum. The name says it all, I think the pictures speak for themselves.

Then came the Kon-Tiki Museum. Among other things, the raft of the expedition is exhibited there. Again, for the interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kon-Tiki. Whether this expedition or my Interrail journey was the bigger adventure is disputed among experts...

Finally, I had some time for the Fram Museum, where two ships from polar expeditions around 1900 are exhibited. This museum is one of the most exciting ones I have visited in recent years; highly recommended. For the right mood, I recommend the series "The Terror" on Amazon.

Unfortunately, the Oslo museums close at 4 pm in winter, so all that was left for me was a tour across Oslo. This tour went from the Vigeland Park with its famous, quirky statues to the Royal Palace, the Akershus Fortress, and the Opera House to the place where Munch painted "The Scream".
