Ningaloo Reef at its finest

Published: 05.12.2017

Dear people, dear readers, ladies and gentlemen,

The boat tour at Ningaloo Reef was a complete success! Despite cloudy weather, we boarded the boat at 9 am, from where Nadia was supposed to do two dives and one snorkel with Manta Rays, and Flo three snorkels. The great thing was that the boat wasn't even halfway booked, so the dive group with eight people was relaxed and the snorkeling group with three people was super manageable.

The first dive/snorkel wasn't particularly spectacular, except that Flo swam with a sea turtle for several minutes (he just loves them!). The many colorful fish that you see are also beautiful and fascinating to watch.

An absolute highlight was the second snorkel, where we swam with two huge mantas for a good 20 minutes! What elegant and majestic animals they are. These creatures glide through the water in a completely relaxed manner, as if they were angels. It's incredible!

Stoked by these impressions, the last dive/snorkel was supposed to be an outstanding finale because the numerous reef sharks we observed during the dentist visit were amazing. There's actually a spot at this reef where the sharks swim with their mouths open, and small fish swim into them to clean their teeth. It's super funny to watch. Flo also tried opening his mouth, but nothing happened. He ended up brushing his teeth himself in the evening. That's how it goes.

Oh, by the way.. did we mention that Flo loves turtles: he swam with one again for another 15-20 minutes at the end.. and seriously, you can learn a lot from these guys! They're so relaxed, they don't let anything stress them out, and they just go with the flow.. awesome!!

Overjoyed and overwhelmed by the underwater world, we continued driving towards Exmouth, where we found an almost empty campground. We'll be staying here for the next two to three days. In the evening, we walked to a completely deserted sand dune and enjoyed a beautiful sunset.

By the way, Rainer is still doing well, he missed us a little yesterday during our boat trip, but now everyone is happy again. ((-:

Warmest greetings from here..

Nadia & Flo

P.S.: Unfortunately, we can't provide any pictures from the underwater world at the moment because the transfer from the GoPro is not working properly. Hopefully, we can upload them at some point. For now..
