Today we had a day to acclimate to the city center of Paris after getting up relatively late. Janina had to recover from her fresh cold and Jörg had severe vacation fatigue. So breakfast at the hotel was canceled, instead we visited a boulangerie with French bakery delicacies :) We had a picnic in the nearby Parc de Bercy near the Seine. Children from a holiday group were playing hide and seek in the park, a successful entertainment program! If it hadn't been so hot and the shade under an old tree hadn't been so attractive, we would have joined in. We were always the last ones to be caught at school. Clever and fast... if that still applies to both of us today...
Afterwards, we walked downtown by foot. By the way, one should not underestimate open-air sandals, they can also cause a blister on the foot in no time... And despite initial doubts, a man's foot can be instantly healed by a blister plaster :)
Before we visited the 'Centre Pompidou' museum (building with the long red escalator from the outside), we enjoyed an incredibly delicious chocolate milkshake (70%, from Venezuela) and a coffee frappé with the same chocolate. The shop was called Hoct&Loca. Jörg couldn't resist an extra chocolate frappé 'to go'. We then strolled through the galleries of the museum for about four hours; quite worth seeing (Picasso, Dora Maar, Kandinsky, Ernst...) and not too crowded. In a 30 sqm room, thousands of iPhone headphones were installed at head level and electrically connected to each other. At certain time intervals, a kind of noise signals were emitted at different points in the room. This resulted in a very unusual soundscape, like multiple birds chirping, spatially delocalized.
In the evening, we had a vegan curry-dragon and an avocado rice bowl at the restaurant 'Riz Riz', highly recommended.
