On the way from Airlie Beach to Cairns, I had a brief stopover on the beautiful island of 'Magnetic Island'. Here you have the opportunity to see koalas and rock wallabies in their natural habitat on small, secluded paths... And with a little patience and luck, it works out too :)
Upon arrival in Cairns, three more excursions were on the program: Scuba Dive at the Great Barrier Reef, Cape Tribulation with overnight stay in the Daintree Rainforest, and the Atherton Tablelands...
Before the first dive, I was a bit nervous. No idea what to expect down there... and what if the air runs out at some point :D
But after a few minutes underwater, you quickly get used to the environment and can simply enjoy the view :)
This little friend is called 'Scarface' and should be about 5-6 meters long...
Afterwards, there was a short beach walk to a beautiful viewpoint.
And apparently there are ants whose behind taste like lime...
The tour guide was so convincing that I simply believed him and missed out on the delicacy.
In the evening, I was persuaded to go on a short night walk through the rainforest. Great idea! No idea how I got out of there alive :D
The next morning, quickly enjoy the sunrise and then back to Cairns...
Afterwards, we went to the Atherton Tablelands. The program included: swimming, eating, swimming, eating, swimming... Great tour that I booked there :D
Babinda Boulders:
Josephine Falls, with a natural water slide. Whee...
Millaa Millaa Falls:
Here, supermodels shoot the latest commercials for Herbal Essences. I can do that too :D
And in the evening, it was time to say goodbye to Jana and Christian. The journey with Lukas then really began...
