Wednesday. 8.30 am. No alarm clock is ringing. Still awake. Solution? Take a shower. Ps. There is no hot water in the hostel. So every shower is refreshing. Andi is also awake now, after enjoying his Netflix episode in his sleep yesterday.

Today's program: Toronto Island and relaxing. Although the weather doesn't look great, we leave in our swim shorts and flip-flops towards the harbor. There we want to take a ferry over to Toronto Island. On the way, we take a detour through the famous St. Lawrence Market Hall and observe the hustle and bustle there. If you want to buy fresh produce, this is the right place.

Finally, we arrive at the harbor and queue up for the crossing. Despite the many people, it goes relatively fast and we reach the ferry to Centre Island at 2 pm. After 10 minutes, we are across and walk from the landing bridge towards the beach. The island seems to be a great recreational area. Lots of green spaces, playgrounds, water spots, picnic benches, etc. invite you to linger. We stay in our sandals and visit the over 200-year-old lighthouse on TO Island. It is now located in the forest :)

Finally, we find a place on the beach and play around in the sand. Almost like summer vacation. Thanks to the warm temperatures, we are drawn to the cool water afterwards. Although no shore is in sight, it is a lake - Lake Ontario. Somehow I thought this was part of the Atlantic. Oh well :)

Freshly bathed, we take the ferry back to Toronto and enjoy a grand view of Toronto City on the way. The following journey home is diverse and funky due to Kensington Avenue. Exciting shops, alternative bars, and quirky people are here.

With a little hunger, we go to Little Italy in the evening, where we enjoy a delicious homemade pizza. On the way, we even stumble upon a film set with Gerrard Butler. It seems he is filming a new Hollywood movie. We were there ;) Funny enough, Andi notices that the police cars are labeled with NYPD (New York Police Department) and we are in Toronto (Canada). Hmmmm... an exciting day, isn't it?

Ps. By the way, ferry tale means 'ferry story'. Not to be confused with fairy tale, which means 'Märchen' in German ;)
