At the border of Croatia-Slovenia, passports were scanned, Slovenia-Italy no-show. And so we went to Northern Italy to Cavazzo Lake at Camping Lago 3 Comuni. Small campsite with a view of the outer Dolomite mountains and an icy mountain lake.
After 3 days, we took the Carnian Dolomites road with some hairpin bends and uphill stretches west to South Tyrol in Pustertal. There we stayed for 4 days at Camping Ansitz Wildberg - super beautiful location with farm animals, playground, and pool.
The "midday mentality" of the Italians posed challenges for us: between 2 pm and 6 pm, no restaurant is open, so we ended up cooking ourselves more often and missed the konobas of Croatia 😉
As expected, it has also become cooler and there have been rainy days and even stormy gusts in the past week, but actually, after the heat of the past weeks, it is quite pleasant to wear long sleeves again...
The Italians are stricter in terms of COVID-19 than the Croatians, here you can even see people walking alone with a dog wearing FFP2 masks 🤨 But luckily, no one has bothered us with tests or registration so far.
That will probably change now when we enter Austria today... 🤪
