On Friday, thanks to the great tip from Manuel from A4 (thanks again!), we went on the Grasshopper Tour. It's actually a group tour by bike and boat through Bangkok, but since no one else had signed up, it became a private tour with Tammy :)
We cycled through narrow alleys past markets, houses, canals, and temples in the Thon Buri neighborhood (unfortunately with some rain). Tammy has been living here since birth and had lots of interesting things to share. Among other things, I learned how to behave in Buddhist temples and that my lucky color is green because I was born on a Wednesday. I also had a delicious Green Curry and got to watch a Thai puppet show at the "Artist House".
On Saturday: Tour to the ruins of Ayutthaya, the former capital of Thailand, 14th-18th century. This is also where the famous postcard motif with the Buddha in the roots of a tree is located.
I expected a lot. Especially more idyll. Overall, the tour was very touristy (why did I actually think it wouldn't be? After all, every tourist wants to see it..), but still very impressive. The guide, a 60-year-old Thai man, was almost incomprehensible. Although he spoke English, everything sounded Thai in terms of pronunciation. But he tried!! ;)
On the tour, I immediately met a nice Italian woman from Rome who is also traveling alone. Tonight we're going to a very tasty vegetarian/vegan restaurant together!
Tomorrow I'm going to the island of Koh Chang, recommended by Niki! I'm excited!! :)
