When it comes to wedding attire, you've probably spent a lot of time finding a stunning wedding dress. But there's a (literally) tiny ensemble that deserves just as much attention as your gorgeous gown: the flower girl dress.

Here are a few well-known rules for flower girl dresses.
Make sure the flower girl dresses match your wedding theme
If you're having a traditional wedding, choose traditional flower girl dresses. Similarly, if you're throwing a relaxed-back beach affair, opt for more fun and unique flower girl dresses. 'A perfect flower girl dress should match the formality and 'feel' of the wedding, fit the personality of the happy little lady, and be comfortable for her to wear all day. Remember, there's more to a flower girl than just the dress, so if you've set your sights on her with a specific hairstyle or statement accessory, the dress should be able to ac and not clash with the other ideas,' says Courtney Geigle from My Wed Style.

Try a different brand than your wedding dress
Don't think that you have to order your flower girl dress from the same company you bought your wedding dress or bridesmaid dresses from. 'The only advantage of buying the flower girl dress from the same brand as your wedding or bridesmaid dresses is that the colors will be the same,' says Geigle. 'If you've already ordered your dress, you can compare the colors of the flower girl dresses against it for the best and most accurate result.'
Consider the length of your flower girl dresses
If your flower girl is older, go with the longer dress. If she's younger, then go with a shorter dress. After all, most flower girl dresses are short for a reason: 'The last thing you want is for her to trip and fall while walking down the aisle,' says Geigle. 'We know it looks adorable, but in the end, it's not worth the risk.'
Order the flower girl dresses close to your wedding
We know, we always tell you to order wedding stuff and clothing early, but in this case, it's worth waiting a bit. Since children can literally grow overnight, it's best to buy the flower girl dresses as close to your wedding date as possible. If you buy it a few months before your wedding, you risk the dress not fitting on the day.
Entertain her before the wedding.

Since children are notorious for spilling beverages on their clothes, dress them last. Before putting on the dress, give her a few snacks. Once the flower girl dress is on, ask her to drink water or milk through a straw and eat colorless foods like crackers or cheese. Give her toys to play with while the bridal party gets ready.
'When talking to her, congratulate her on how clean and elegant she looks and how she looks like the bride. She should understand that it's important for her to behave her best,' says Geigle. She'll love being part of the wedding.
Take Photos Together
'Having a flower girl as part of your wedding party is a lovely touch that will lead to sweet memories and even sweeter photos. Take advantage of this beautiful tradition and capture a few moments of the bride and flower girl sharing thoughts, opinions, or just a few laughs,' says Geigle. 'You'll treasure these shots forever.'
