We continue along the coast towards the French border and arrive at the RACB campsite near Westende. There are only about 20 tourist spots here and the rest are occupied by permanent campers. It's so quiet that we have the meadow to ourselves for a while. In general, there isn't much going on at the Belgian coast. What's also attractive is that the beach (also a dog beach) is only 600m away from the campsite. The beach is completely un-touristy and you only see a few people or dogs here and there. We like it here so much that we stay for 12 nights. From here we also visit a dog festival in De Panne. Over 100 dogs and their owners hang out at the beach promenade and there is all kinds of accessories to buy for the beloved ones. Dog dancing is performed on a small stage and the Belgian police show how well their police dogs are trained at the edge of the festival. One day we set off and explore the next larger city, Nieuwport.
On the last day at the campsite, we are visited by 3 familiar faces - Simone, Constanze and their dog Marley. We spend an afternoon at the beach with the dogs and enjoy a few cool drinks. ;) The next morning we move to the end of a field where the three have their holiday home. Polly gets to stay in a dead-end street for a few days and we spend many funny and beautiful hours together.
Thank you three for the wonderful time!!!
Now we continue towards Amsterdam...
