Overcoming boundaries!

Published: 04.09.2018

For me it was clear yesterday: 'I won't do much walking tomorrow!'

My feet were lame and I had run 3 blisters on my first tour over 25 km. Nevertheless, I decided to run to Eutin. That's at least 8 km. I wanted to see how my feet would react if I keep going even though it hurts. Such situations will also occur again and again during the journey on the Camino de Santiago.

So today I set out and immediately found a stick at the beginning of my tour that I could use as a hiking stick. Earlier than expected (after a little more than an hour), I arrived in Eutin. I thought that although my feet hurt, I would still like to continue. So I initially sat on a bench and bandaged my feet with blister plaster and gauze. Then I looked for new goals and a new hiking route. I was unsure whether I would make it to Plön. But since the path to Plön leads via Malente, where I could take the train home if necessary, I decided to continue walking.

I started walking and noticed how the pain in my foot gradually decreased. Shortly after Malente, I gave my feet a break in a water tramp and actually made it to Plön. I didn't expect that!

According to my Fitbit, I walked 48 km yesterday and today combined!

I am very proud of myself! Not only because of the 48 km, but because I have grown beyond my limits!
