On our journey to the Oberschwäbische Baroque Road, Ulm was our first stop.

We arrived in the late afternoon and made our way into the city center.

At Münsterplatz, a brewery festival was taking place, complete with brass music and many beer stalls.

However, we preferred to continue to the famous Münster, which has the tallest church tower in the world at 161 meters.

After a brief walk through the pedestrian zone, we met up with a northern German friend who now lives here and went to eat together at “Barfüßer.” The brewery naturally serves its own beer and Swabian cuisine.

Afterward, we strolled a bit through the fishermen's quarter, which provides an impression of the city before the destruction of World War II.

Between the arms of the river Blau, we saw a “Ulmer Spatz.” As our knowledgeable private city guide explained to us, this bird is the namesake for the Swabian noodles.

Our path also took us onto the old city wall, which is now a popular walking path.

Crossing a bridge, we arrived in Neu-Ulm, which has belonged to Bavaria since the Napoleonic era, while Ulm became part of Württemberg.

On the bridge, one could stand with one foot in each of today's federal states.

We walked along the Danube back to our parking space at Donaubad.
