Today we have to cover another 320km towards the north to avoid the outskirts of the low pressure area. There is also nothing good coming from the north of Italy. In the province of Bologna, there have been heavy rains and terrible floods. Since the northern weather is also threatening, we keep an eye on it. Our destination is the city of Benevento. Along the way, we find a church ruin as a rest stop, whose vault is crossed by a crystal clear stream. We enjoy this gem with delicious Italian bread, salami, ham, and olives. Then we continue our journey, which proves to be very exhausting due to the curvy and potholed road. Our accommodation today is located in the old town of Benevento. We need 4 attempts and 3 different navigation systems to find the access to a narrow alley. It is so narrow that we can only park the motorcycle without the luggage and very close to the wall. We store everything in our new accommodation and go shopping in the old town. After just a few meters, we come across a lovely Italian senior band, which immediately waves us over and performs "o sole mio" for the Tedescos. Once again, we are thrilled. On the way back, we meet the band again and are treated to Italian evergreens once more. We throw 10,- € into the guitar's sound hole and head home to cook our groceries. Tonight, the rain is supposed to catch up with us, and I already have a huge respect for driving down the steep alley paved with worn-out basalt when it's wet.
