Stomach upset

Published: 29.08.2023

24 August 23 Feistritzer Alm > Egger Alm

After a good night and again wonderful weather I woke up early. Packed and all the preparations for a stage done, Hans surprised me with a coffee from his kitchen. Hans is really a very nice person I like him very much! Now the march started downhill again. The path to the Rifugio Nordio-Deffar led through meadowland and forest. Very nice house and very nice people. There was also an Italian digging for crystal. I bought a sandwich, ate some, and took the rest with me as provisions. The path continued through pastures with cows and horses through forest and raspberry bushes. Mmmmm. A flat road, about 5 km long, finally led to the Egger Alm. Rudi's ski hut was my accommodation, where another Swiss man arrived a good hour later. I showered ass Rudi's frying pan. (A kind of rösti with all sorts of ingredients). Very fine indeed. A very cozy evening with accordion sounds played by Andy the waiter. The longer the evening dragged on, I noticed more and more that something was wrong with my stomach. In the middle of the night it was time, I had to vomit everything. I slept very badly and was weak.

25 August 23 Egger Alm > Nassfeld

I drank a coke for breakfast and didn't feel like anything else. Ruedi Loosli (the Swiss hiker) said he would accompany me to Nassfeld, he wanted to do a short route today. So we hiked this stage together to the Garnitzenalm. I decided to stay there because I had "bottle empty"! He then moved on, and it turned out for me that there was nothing free to stay the night that night. The landlord then reserved me a room in Nassfeld! Now I dragged myself alone for a good 2 hours, first up 300 meters in altitude and then down again as much. Arrived safely, I took a day off in Nassfeld. Washing clothes, etc. was announced and I relax! I wanted to send the tent home, but only found a mini post office, so keep lugging the tent with me!

26 August 23 Break in Nassfeld

Nassfeld is a transition between Italy and Austria. So I stayed at the Hotel Forcello Gallo on the Italian side. The ski area is on the Austrian side and is currently being developed and expanded by Russian oligarchs. It is the largest ski area in Carinthia. It should also be very snow-reliable here because there is always a lot of snow here due to the geographic location. (Genoa low)! I recovered well and am ready to move on.

27 Aug 23 Nassfeld > Zollnersee Hütte

Windy and cloudy that's the weather when you get up in the morning. Rain is also forecast, but no thunderstorms! I accept the challenge of the 22km. with 1200 meters of altitude and set off. This time I cheat and take the chairlift up the first mountain. Steep up, then down a flat piece of mountain and then climb up again later, that's how the path goes all day. Rain threatens but the strong wind spares me from the rain. This is how it goes up to the Strainiger Alm, where a snack plate was waiting for me. This time I moved on even though I had a place to stay here. The weather will hold up for the next 2 1/2 hours, I said to myself and set out freshly strengthened. Amazingly, I agree with the hours given and reached the Zollnersee Hütte at 6:30 p.m., just in time for dinner. After a while it started raining and thunderstorming. Ate very well, showered and exchanged with loud locals who were on the Karnischer Höhenweg.
