First of all, I had a really beautiful and special birthday here in New Zealand!
I was taken care of and spoiled by Basti all day long! After a delicious breakfast with gifts, we went to a stunning viewpoint. Then we continued to the Ship Creek Walk, which led us through rare Kahikatea trees (that have been around since prehistoric times) and a wetland, and along a beach where we saw a playful school of the smallest and rarest dolphin species - the Hector Dolphins! The little animals had almost as much fun in the water as I had on land - and one even gave me a birthday splash with 3! Then we drove on to the Thunder Creek waterfall and the Blue Pool, with incredibly clear, blue glacier water (Basti took a swim - it was sooo || cold). Really beautiful.
We slept at a lake with a view of snow-capped mountains! What a day!
