I really enjoy hiking...

Published: 12.05.2019

Better late than never!

The last 2 days were completely different. On Friday, we spent 100% of our time in the car and covered nearly 500km from McCracken to Horseham (lovingly called Pferdeschinken by Basti). The weather was terrible - rain, storm, cold. It wasn't quite what we had imagined. After arriving at the campsite in the afternoon, we started planning for the next few days, which will take us to Sydney. As part of that, we are actively looking for work. I have already received a lot of legitimate offers - massage, catering at private parties, promotional model... I will definitely consider them - not 😂

Yesterday was, although not much warmer, but definitely more pleasant. Instead of starting at 9 as planned, we left around 10 am towards Grampians - a national park with high mountains. The first stop didn't take long: the MacKenzie Waterfalls. A 600m hike downhill led us to the destination. We were greeted with a beautiful natural spectacle. And a dozen Asians who couldn't take enough selfies. The way back up really made my knee happy. The drive took us through a fallen tree in the middle of the road to Halls Cap. For Jeepy, it was no problem, as slim and tall as he is. When we arrived in Halls Cap, we saw several hundred kangaroos in the meadows and approached them to within a meter. We would have loved to take one with us. Then we passed another waterfall. The sign indicated an 800m long trail. But since it was relatively flat, we covered it at a jogging pace. We had originally planned to visit a lookout point that was supposed to offer a view of the mountains. But once again, the weather thwarted our plans with low-hanging clouds. 200km later, we arrived at our accommodation in Point Cook (just before Melbourne). A guy in a panda costume welcomed us. At the same time, Basti's parents arrived in Melbourne, from where they started their road trip. We spontaneously met up for dinner, which finally gave us the opportunity to explore the city after 6 pm. Still incredibly impressive and vibrant!

Today we are going on a trip to Phillip Island to see penguins.

Es war schön, euch zu sehen. So weit weg und dann doch so nah. Wir freuen uns auf das Wiedersehen.☺
