26.7. - Freiburg - Bike tour to the castle near Staufen

Komoot suggested a tour to the castle near Staufen. 43 km with hardly any altitude, perfect. The way there is quite picturesque as soon as you leave Freiburg, mostly through vineyards. It's always slightly uphill and we have a headwind, but that fuels the hope for a smooth return journey.

Arriving in Staufen, there is traditional Baden cuisine. Schäufele, unfortunately not roasted but smoked (consult an Austrian culinary dictionary if you are not familiar with the word) and Leber sauer, very tasty.

Afterwards, we go up to the castle. It's hot.

During the meal, I asked the waitress about a plant that caught our attention on the ride just before Staufen and we didn't know.

It's fu..... tobacco! That reminded me that Roth Händle mainly consists of German tobacco.
