Day #4: The forecast promises clouds and rain by evening. At least we can build up dry after enjoying a great view of the landscape from our hammocks. Juicy green and the bright y

Day #5
Tuesday, May 5th.
The day starts as the previous one ended.
While the sound of the rain yesterday was somewhat idyllic as one swayed in the hammock, today it is a challenge to get moving.
So, let's roll over again, which proves to be a challenge in the hammock, and make ourselves comfortable first.
Additionally, I feel like for a change, I'm up before Dave.
No, that was a false hope.
Under the tarp, it always sounds like there's more rain than there actually is. So, let's get up and pack our things.
It's advantageous to have some of the clothes hanging in the ridgeline above; then part of it can already be done while lying down.
Fortunately, it has stopped raining by now.
Once again, we have to cover 20km before we treat ourselves to a bakery.
That takes a while since today involves many elevation gains.
In the end, we have our provisions for the day in the form of rolls, pastries, and coffee.
In an attempt to offer a customer our deposit from the water bottles, after a scrutinizing glance at both of us, they stated:
Deposit bottles? I don't believe you ... Nope.
Today, we are expecting three steep climbs in total.
At the end of the first one, we are lucky to encounter a spring where we can refill our water bottles.
We absolutely need to discipline ourselves to drink more!
After a mostly cloudy day, the incoming rain in the afternoon, during the final ascent of the day, forces us to put on our rain gear.
Good decision, shortly after it starts pouring.
In Wernigerode, we stock up on supplies. The passing Harz narrow-gauge railway is exciting to see.
While searching for our campsite, we take on another steep climb, which surprisingly goes completely unnoticed as we scan the forest. There are other priorities at play.
Then, we push the bikes up a slope again, and we have found our spot.
During a break in the rain, we can set up before it gets dark.
Looking at the weather report, which promises a lot of rain in the morning hours, we agree to sleep in and wish each other a good night.
Song of the day:
Hans Lazer Alien Slam - Iron Lazer (Pump it up!)
