Day #68
Tuesday, July 7th.
Rest day in Mostar
Country: Bosnia and Herzegovina
For breakfast, there is Börek; Ruben woke up early and already went shopping.
This morning we thought it would be a good time to introduce ourselves.
In principle, it’s not that important; we get along well, and that’s what matters.
So we set out together to the city and after a short round and an ice cream, we find ourselves in the heart of the old town.
A local I met yesterday with his crew told me he is one of the bridge jumpers and wants to jump down at 2:00 PM.
There is a tradition that all boys must jump from the bridge at least once.
Some do it as a tourist attraction as well.
We make ourselves comfortable by the river and watch the goings-on.
There are many tourists around, although I expected more people.
In the meantime, someone actually jumps down, but unfortunately, we only witness the landing.
The guy from yesterday looked different.
No matter; eventually, it's time for the next meal, so off we go.
We find something nearby, then we head back to the accommodation to hang up the washed clothes, which thankfully the machine has taken care of.
Since the city is quite manageable, we wander a bit outside, up the hill, to a gorge to have a look at Mostar.
Still quite manageable.
The lack of shade soon drives us back down, plus it's time for the next meal.
The stomachs need to be filled, and we do that in the old town, in a quaint little restaurant.
And because we liked it so much, we go back to the river afterward, enjoy the view of Stari Most again, the colorful hustle and bustle, and let the evening wind down.
At the accommodation, I start packing a few things in preparation, and then, once again later than planned, it’s urgently time for bed.
