Norway-Nordkapp September 1-17, 2025 September 3

Today we travel from Nordreisa to Hammerfest. We will see reindeer, many of which still have their young with them. Along the Burfjord, Badderen, Klubben, Alta, and Sørstraumen, we will also pick our first blueberries.

Blueberries, known as 'Blåbær' in Norway, are the most common type of berry in the country and grow in many forests and low-lying areas, particularly during the berry season from mid-June to mid-October. Thanks to the Right to Roam ('Allemannsretten'), gathering blueberries for personal use is allowed almost everywhere and is very popular, as the berries are considered healthy and delicious.

  • The 'Right of Public Access' or Right to Roam allows everyone to pick berries such as blueberries in uncultivated areas.
  • However, it is important to respect nature and to consider wildlife and other people.
  When they are ripe
  • The berry season begins in northern Norway around mid-June and lasts until mid-October.
  • In the early evening, we will reach our lovely little house by Neverfjord, where we will spend the next three days.
