In the early morning, we leave Flåm on the Flåmbanen towards Myrdal, where we transfer to the Bergen railway heading to Oslo. We go directly to the airport, where we have booked our last hotel of the trip for the next night.

It is an incredibly beautiful and impressive journey, passing by snowy mountains and frozen lakes in the finest cold winter weather.

Flåm is a village in southwestern Norway. The area is known for its fjords, and the village is located at the end of the Aurlandsfjord, a branch of the large Sognefjord. The spectacular lookout point Stegastein rises high above the Aurlandsfjord. In the valley south of the harbor of Flåm, there is the wooden church of Flåm, built in the 17th century. The Flåmbahn offers views of the valley and waterfalls during the journey to a station on the high plateau of Hardangervidda.

The village is located in the Flåmsdalen, a narrow, long valley at an elevation of 59 meters, flanked by high mountains. The western mountain range is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Nærøyfjord. The Flåmsdalen leads into the Aurlandsfjord, a side branch of the Sognefjord, where the localities Brekke and Fretheim are located. They are separated by the Flåmselvi river.
