Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, it resonates early this morning, as today is Christmas Eve. We will reach Ørnes early in the morning, with a brief stop, cross the Arctic Circle, then continue towards Nesna, Sandnessjøen, and Brønnøysund with a longer stay, before heading to Rørvik.

Brønnøysund is situated on a narrow peninsula of the mainland and is surrounded by islands and water. Here you find yourself in the heart of Norway. The small coastal town, with its 5,000 inhabitants, encircles the narrow but strategically favorable harbor, through which trade and fishing take place. Brønnøysund is a vibrant, beautiful small town with an attractive marina for visitors. Take some time to stroll through the streets – a walk along Havnegata is recommended, where you can view the small boats and observe the bustling activity of the archipelago. Immerse yourself in city life by visiting one of the pubs or treating yourself to a delicious meal at one of the restaurants. In the town center lies the Brønnøy Church, a stone church in neo-Gothic style from 1870. Parts of the choir and the entrance walls date back to the Middle Ages. The oldest artifact of the church is a pre-Reformation wooden crucifix, which hangs above the new side altar. Torgatten, a mountain on the island of Torget, is famous for its distinctive hole in the middle. Stay on deck to see it from the sea like the sailors of old (who were the only ones to visit this spot at the time). Just outside Brønnøysund, we skim past the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Vega Archipelago. The archipelago consists of over 6,000 islands, islets, and skerries and has been awarded World Heritage status due to the rare harmony in which island residents and eider ducks coexist. For over 1,500 years, fishermen and farmers have been involved in the eider duck operation for down collection. The eider ducks nest in specially built huts and can be found alongside lighthouses, fishing villages, and breathtaking landscapes.
