Today we explore the town of Karasjok on foot. We don't cross the big river on the bridge, but rather we hike over the snow-covered ice. The snowmobiles that are everywhere here also drive on it, so there is no risk of us breaking in. the sun is at its peak, which the photo proves...
The cutler, which is touted in every guide, turns out to be incredibly expensive (a small Veitel costs between €70 and €250).
Afterwards we walk to the Sámi Parliament to take a guided tour at 1 p.m. Unfortunately - only possible tomorrow! But we are allowed to visit the library and are once again fascinated by the Nordic architecture!
As we walk home the sun is setting again. So you can experience the sunrise, the peak and the sunset within 4 hours!
It's no longer cold (just around 0°), but the wind makes everything feel a lot colder. You notice how many calories you burn in this climate.
Now it's already dark and we're sitting in the warmth of the camper and looking through all the options we have given this weather and road conditions. It looks like we'll visit the Sámi Parliament here in Karasjok tomorrow (we'll get a guided tour) and then drive to Arta in the hope of seeing a few northern lights there. We want to be careful tonight too, the forecasts are not rosy, but who knows...
