20.11.2016 The great journey begins

20.11.16, 8:45 PM: Planned departure from Düsseldorf to Auckland. In order for a family to sit together, the journey to Jerusalem is played on the plane. Later, 8 people sit in a different spot, but everyone is happy. I pass the waiting time due to an engine malfunction, together with my older seat neighbors, exploring the onboard entertainment program ICE. My A380 Emirates flight EK058 departs with a delay of approximately 1.5 hours at 10:10 PM in DUS and lands in Dubai around 7:30 AM.

After obtaining the connecting flight boarding pass at the Connected-Flight counter, the giant bird A380 of Emirates (EK434) takes off in Dubai with a stopover in Brisbane, Australia, punctually on November 21 at 10:25 AM. My seat 77G on the right side of the middle 4-seater row is great, as there are 2 vacant seats next to me and I can spread out. The 14:15 hours pass quickly :)

Stopover in Brisbane on November 22nd at 6:40 AM. I take a look at the cozy and modern airport, lounge on a comfortable sofa, and board the plane again. Same plane, same seat, new crew, new travelers, and again a vacant seat next to me. Departure at 8:25 AM.

On November 22nd at 2:35 PM, after a total flight time of 29 hours and 50 minutes, I finally arrive at my destination in Auckland, New Zealand.

After the security checks, I greet Michael and take the bus with him to YHA Auckland City hostel where we will be staying for 2 nights.
