3rd Day - Cape Town

Since my fans wanted a new blog post - here it is... 😁

This morning, we spontaneously decided to move our originally planned tour to the famous Cape of Good Hope, the southeasternmost point of Africa, to today. The reason for this was the weather, which was sunnier but too windy for Table Mountain.

On the tour to the Cape of Good Hope National Park, we visited three more must-sees. The first two were on the way there. First, we visited Duiker Island, home to seals, in Hout Bay. Let me tell you: this 40-minute boat ride is not for people who get seasick easily. Boy, did it rock. Fortunately, we didn't feel sick and were able to see the seals without any problems. I've never seen so many seals in one place. Take a look at the pictures. They're really cute.

In my opinion, the penguins we visited as our second stop on the way to the Cape of Good Hope were even cuter. They live at Boulders Beach in Simon's Town. The penguins waddled in their little tuxedos, truly unique! About 3,000 penguins live freely at Boulders Beach. All the animals we saw today are wild. That's what makes it so exciting ☺

After tearing ourselves away from the penguins, we continued on to our main destination. On the drive to the national park, with the mountain landscape on one side and the sea on the other, we encountered a small "herd" of animals on the road. We couldn't believe our eyes when we saw what animals they were: baboons! I almost tripped over myself when I grabbed the camera from the floor compartment.

When we arrived at the national park, we first went to Cape Point, the lighthouse in the park that didn't bring seafarers the desired success in the past and was therefore closed in 1919 and replaced by a new lighthouse. From the platform of the lighthouse, we had a truly unique view of the sea and the Cape. The wind blew quite strongly, but that's part of it. After strolling around a bit, we continued to the famous photo spot, the Cape of Good Hope, with its signage. Originally, we wanted to hike here for 1.5 hours from the lighthouse, but we didn't have the time. But of course, the obligatory photo at the Cape sign was a must 😉

On the way back to our Airbnb, which we then embarked on, we wanted to make a short stop at the colorful houses of Muizenberg with its beach. These are changing rooms that make for a very nice photo motif. Due to the late hour, we only stayed here for a few minutes, which was enough, although the houses were very pretty to look at. We arrived at our accommodation just in time for the sunset. What a day!
