Day 34 - Fields of light

Published: 29.01.2023

It is dark. We are awake. It's 4 o'clock. What's going on? We're going to watch 'Liechtli'. We're on time at the meeting point. Others are not. Doesn't matter, the bus leaves plus-minus as agreed. It takes an extra loop. We are back at the meeting point 25 minutes later. Nobody gets on despite the message from the straggler. Now he definitely leaves. 5 minutes later we stop. We are here. No kidding.

It's 5 o'clock. We follow the 'Liechtli' - to the 'Liechtli'. There are many of them. And colorful. About the size of a soccer field. The pictures speak for themselves. It is still dark. The 'Liechtli' sea is impressive. We spend 45 minutes in it. We take photos. Not as many as the Asian group. There is tea. We wait for the sun. It doesn't come. The rain does. Great. The group is already back on the bus before sunrise. We stay for now. The sun really doesn't show up. We also go to the bus. He drives us back.

We reserve at the hotel next door for dinner at 6.35 a.m. They are overwhelmed. Too early in the day. We make it. It keeps raining. The bed calls. We answer. Result: 3 hours of extra sleep. Fair enough!

The alarm clock rings. Again today. The bastard. We post breakfast and coffee. Hector has to serve as a brunch room. That's fine. Now we're leaving - towards Kata Tjuta. Start of the hike: 11 a.m. Announced duration: 4 hours. Perfect time slot (keyword temperature during the day). It's going well for us. Thanks to the clouds, it's only a warm 27 degrees. For now.

The hike is impressive. We are not alone. 100 flies per person are on board. We have our nets - hmph. After 2.5 hours / 7.5km we are back. 'Wind of the Valleys Walk' checked. Thanks Olga(s).

Hector takes us to Uluru(uuuu). He calls. We follow. A bit tired. He doesn't care. The sun shows up. Occasionally. We hike. Again. This time only briefly. To the waterhole - 5km there and back. It's getting warm. 32 degrees. Done. Now the waterhole is waiting for us at Lost Camel. Our hotel. We jump in. And out again. It's time to chill.

End of the day: dinner at Sails in the Desert. We have reserved early. Luckily. Almost no seats were occupied. It's delicious. We go get food 4-5 times. We would have liked to go to the buffet 7-8 times. But no more space. Not even for the sausage. We pay. And leave. That's it. What a day - ulurastic.
