Day 20 - Nearly 12 Apostles

Published: 15.01.2023

Well rested but still a bit sleepy, we wake up in the morning in our bed in the back area of Yoshi. It's very comfortable to sleep in, even in windy and cool conditions. We have a cozy breakfast with bread, orange juice, coffee, tea & muesli. Today Marco also warms up the 'Indian beans' that we have been driving around for a week. We say goodbye to the koalas and Cape Otway.

We continue westward to the most famous sights of the Great Ocean Road - the 12 Apostles. Basically nothing more than rocks, in the water, relatively big and yet extremely impressive. The rock formations have been formed over centuries and are gradually eroded by the intense waves as well as wind & weather. That's why there are probably not twelve anymore. But it doesn't matter. We make some stops and take pictures.

Afterwards, we continue driving and pass by Port Campbell. A simple but cozy place with a few shops and cafes. Yes, you heard right - cafes :) We also do a quick shopping at the local food store before we end up in Petersborough. It's very windy and when we arrive at the campsite, according to the sign, all sites are full. But we still try. Lo and behold, there's still a spot for us.

We use the remaining time to read a bit, repair backpack zippers, write posts, and use our camping chairs. Day 20 over & out.
