My plan was to come back at least somewhat tanned. Accordingly, we gave the beach a chance, despite occasional rain, strong gusts of wind, and clouds. We were more or less successful. One day, we were stopped by the police on the way to the beach because of a broken traffic light that confused us into driving through red. Of course, we had to bribe the police, which took about half an hour. After that, we wanted to enjoy a calming drink, which was not so easy at the public beach. Just as we had finished our drinks, it started to storm. So we lost the day to the weather.
On another day, we went to Akumal, a beach where you can swim with turtles and admire other fish. Luckily for me, the sea was so rough that the first meters remained opaque due to the stirred-up sand. However, Eduardo saw turtles and a swordfish when he dived further out. 🎉
On the last evening, we went with our hosts to Mayami Bich, a tropical bar/restaurant whose menu style was to present the American language in Spanish spelling. I found it funny and the drinks were cheap as well. 🍹
