Dreamy Caribbean

On the Colombian Caribbean coast in the north of the country is the next million city, Cartagena, with an average temperature of around 30 degrees Celsius. This city is undergoing an incredibly rapid transformation. In addition to the beautiful and well-preserved old town, a second Miami with large hotels in one neighborhood and equally large apartment buildings in the next neighborhood is emerging on the nearby peninsula. Our apartment was basically in between.

While I continued to attend Spanish lessons in the mornings, Juli met up with her parents at the beach, who spontaneously wanted to enjoy the sun for a few days as well. Especially since Juli's mother comes from Cartagena and has many friends there. I joined in around noon. 😎

Our time there was not particularly eventful, after the daily beach visit, we also explored the new and old city. This includes Castillo de San Filipe. It is said that if the English had been able to take this fort and thus the city during colonial times, South America would probably speak English today. 😳
