Together with Jens, we went on a hike along the Werra-Burgen-Steig (X5H, awarded as the 2nd most beautiful hiking trail in Germany in 2016). This part of the X5 long-distance hiking trail covers 128 kilometers from Hann. Münden to Nentershausen and offers stunning nature, old castles, and the company of the Werra river throughout the journey. We started in Hann. Münden, at the origin of the Weser river, formed by the confluence of the Werra and Fulda rivers. We continued along the Werra, passing by various medieval castles. After 2 nights, sometimes in rainy weather, and about 60 km on the X5H trail, we reached the halfway point in Bad Sooden-Allendorf, where we safely returned by train.
