Today is the day!
My parents picked me up to accompany me to the airport. It has been a stressful few days. Booked on Monday, flown on Thursday and I still managed to say goodbye to all my loved ones. In my opinion, a record achievement!
Me, who suffered from fear of flying before my last flight to Dresden, will now master the longest flight in the world's largest bird (A380) alone. And lo and behold: I love it, very much!
The Emirates airline was simply amazing and reminded me of a fairytale from 1001 nights. The service, the food, and the amazing airplane thrilled me from A-Z. Even my fear of not speaking enough English was quickly contained. My seat neighbors, who had even less knowledge of English, also found a way to communicate with me using gestures and mime. The journey went well and I was amazed when, after the stopover in Dubai, I could see the famous Palm and the Burj Khalifa from above. Now Down Under is still 14 hours of flight away and as the night came, the starry sky was left on in the airplane, I treated myself to a good night's sleep...
