The today's route from Monterey to San Louis Obispo had some highlights.
In Monterey, we first drove to Fishermans Warf. Then we decided to take the 17 Miles Drive (10$). This road along the coast is very beautiful with many viewpoints. Inland, the viewpoints are okay. If you have enough time, this tour is recommended, but not a must.
Point Lobos State Reserve was the first stop along Highway 1. This small park invites you to hike. We chose a short hike to a whaler's hut with a small museum.
The next point is supposed to be the most photographed point along the highway. Of course, we also made a stop at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park - MC Ways Falls. A beautiful bay with a waterfall.
As it was getting dark, we headed towards San Louis Obispo.
