From Hervey Bay, we took a boat to Fraser Island for whale watching. After about 1.5 hours of travel, the first humpback whales appeared. In the bay, there are currently only the females with their calves, so you could always see 2 whales together.
The whales were feeding their young and teaching them how to clap their fins on the water to ward off attackers.
