Flores / Tikal

Flores was my base to visit Tikal. Set on Lake Petén Itza, it is a peninsula with colonial buildings.I stayed at a hostel on the opposite side of the lake and enjoyed taking the taxi boats. Tikal is Guatemala's most famous attraction: the ancient Mayan ruins of a city that was inhabited from approximately 900 BC to 900 AD. It was very impressive and I had a great time exploring and climbing the temples.
