Sunday 18th November 2018:
Day 1 started during the flight from Zurich to Singapore.
The flight was quite pleasant, although the meal times were a bit peculiar (dinner at midnight?!) 😂🤦♂️
It was very convenient for me that the only available seat on the plane was right next to me. So I didn't have any major seating problems.
We arrived in Singapore in the afternoon. I was very impressed by Singapore's airport. I have never seen such a modern and well-structured airport of this size before.
Surprisingly, Vietnam Airlines was also quite punctual, so I was almost perfectly on schedule.
Upon arriving in HCMC, I had to realize that the hygienic conditions are not as perfect everywhere as they are in Singapore.
But since I didn't expect it anyway, I didn't mind much.
Unfortunately, the immigration control took a while. So I had to wait for an hour until I could pick up my luggage. It was already lying on the floor in the middle of the airport terminal, and I still don't know how it got there. But to be honest, I don't really care.
So far, I didn't feel even a hint of nervousness, but that changed when none of the ATMs at the airport worked and about 1000 taxi drivers offered their services to me. However, I was already so tired at that point that the stress didn't last long, and I just grabbed the next taxi driver and typed the address of my accommodation into my phone.
After 10 minutes of wild driving (during which we 'only' hit one person), we arrived at my first accommodation.
I was warmly welcomed by my host who showed me my room, and finally, I could fall into bed and catch up on sleep.
