Let's start with the foundation of our journey, the vehicle. After a long search, we decided to buy an old Bundeswehr vehicle from a car dealer. As planned, in November 2017, we got our Egon:
VW T4 Bus
Year 1995 (like Josi)
1200.00 kilometers
After many working hours in Jonas' grandma's garage (a big thank you to Aaron for his support), our Egon now looks as it does. The spotted army green has been transformed into a beautiful (rolled) white paint. Fortunately, the car dealer left the back seats intact, and the interior had already been gutted by the Bundeswehr. After some restoration work (underbody protection, rust, ...), we were able to start with the interior conversion. Jonas built a pull-out bed with storage underneath, a chest of drawers, and most importantly, a kitchen with running water. Jonas really outdid himself! For additional storage space, we installed a roof rack with waterproof aluminum boxes. Egon is starting to look like a proper trekking vehicle.
