First day at work

Published: 22.01.2018

This morning, Lena took me to the school where I will be working for the next six months. It is a large special needs school with different areas. One area is for the blind, one for children with intellectual disabilities, one for children with special needs, and I will be working with deaf children.

I was really nervous about how communication would go, but my worries were completely unfounded. Thankfully, it is a secondary school, so the children can read and write, which makes it much easier to communicate with them even though I can't sign. The children have a great time learning their language from me, and since a new school year has just begun, there hasn't been any proper classes yet today. I'm really excited that soon I will be able to learn English sign language, and it's so much fun to learn a new language (there isn't an international sign language). In the near future, I will mostly be assisting with math and physical education classes, and I will be at the school from 7:20 am to 1:10 pm.

I will keep you updated! Greetings from the pool 🌴 I'm sending you some of my 32 degrees and lots of sunshine! ☀️
