First Day – Arrival in Verona
Our first day started early in the morning. The meeting at Mannheim Central Station was set for 6:00 AM – many children were even there before the teachers.
At 6:32 AM, we finally took the train from Mannheim Central Station to Munich and then directly onward to Verona.
During the train journey, there was a small medical issue: A woman who actually wanted to go to Bologna and had no train ticket needed medical assistance. As a result, we were delayed by about 1 hour and 5 minutes.
During the ride through Austria, many took the time to sleep, listen to music, or chat.
At around 4:00 PM, we reached the central station in Verona. From there, we took bus 125 to a stop near our accommodation. After that, we still had to walk for about 17 minutes until we finally arrived.
For dinner, we had spaghetti with tomato sauce, which we cooked ourselves. Unfortunately, the sauce was not very tasty – it was almost a little kitchen chaos. We had bought the ingredients at a supermarket that was about 2–3 kilometers from our accommodation.
Despite minor difficulties, the first day was really cool overall and an exciting start to our journey.
