Fort Mehrangarh - Brave Rajputs and Beautiful Maharanis

Fort Mehrangarh dates back to 1459 as does the city of Jodhpur. Built by Roa Jodha it served as residence of the Maharadschas of Jodhpur until 1943. Still the enormous Fort is privately owned by the current Maharadscha of Jodhpur, Gaj Singh. After passing 7 enormous gates, one enters the beautifully maintained fortress compound with its different courtyards and buildings on different levels. The whole compound took us at least 4 hours to complete and we enjoyed every minute.
