Big world vs. little vroni and jana

Published: 29.10.2016

Welcome to the show The Big Wide World vs. Little Vroni and Little Jana! Let's start with 1:0 for the little travelers as they conquer Hanoi. But the world strikes back! And how does it do it best? After the little taste of the Hanoi Bridge that I told you about, let's continue: so the two travelers end up stranded in a small abandoned province at night, where no one speaks English. But what do Vroni and Jana do? They strike back! They find a man who interprets for them, explains the desperate situation to the bus driver. The driver organizes a hostel for them for the night and lets them sleep in his bus until then. Score? 1:1! Let's continue with a secret waterfall that the two reach after a 15 km bike ride in the sun and a visit to a small village in the mountains where everyone lives very alternative. Also, a wonderful night of karaoke with great people from the hostel and an Italian guy who showed us the waterfall and the village and was super funny. Definitely 2:1 for Vroni and Jana!! But that's not all, no, the world strikes back and it does so in full force. And how? Quite simply, Jana's bag with all valuables and documents, as well as my visa card, disappears on the bus ride from Ha Giang to Sa Pa. And then it's probably 4:2 for the world.. In Sa Pa, our hostel reservation was messed up and we wandered around at night with our backpacks from hostel to hostel and they were all full until, thanks to our perseverance, we finally found one. I think this deserves a point for each party. So 5:3. All in all? The people here are incredibly nice, helpful, and friendly. However, the language barrier is so intense that I have gestured more in the past 5 days than in my entire life. Hardly anyone here speaks English and that is very exhausting. The nature is a dream and the backpackers in the hostel were all great, but unfortunately, the food in Vietnam is absolutely not to my liking and I've lost about 3 kilos. After many calculations, it's now 8:5 for the big wide world.. It remains exciting! I'll keep you updated in this duel :)
