Woke up at 06:00 am sharp. With faces plagued by sunburn and heavy legs, we didn't have big plans for today.
If you want to work in New Zealand, like we do, you have to go through various bureaucratic processes. This includes opening a bank account, applying for an IRD number (tax number), and obtaining a Working Holiday Visa, which we already needed for entry into New Zealand. Since we already had a bank account, today we organized the documents for the tax number.
So we made our way to the nearby post office.
Instead of taking the shortest route through the city, we chose the beautifully situated Rotary Walkway, which ran along the sea.
Being the exemplary people that we are, we applied sunscreen today. ;)
In addition to groceries and documents for the tax number, sun caps and prepaid SIM cards were on the shopping list.
Arriving at the hiking trail, we were greeted by strong gusts of wind. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the view and the sea breeze in our noses.
Along the way, we discovered oddly shaped tree trunks that were huge and mighty. We hiked through bird sanctuaries, past rock formations, and arrived at a tree swing. This awakened the child in us and, of course, was extensively used for pictures and videos. :)
After this little adventure, we continued towards the shopping mall.
After successfully completing all errands at the post office and shopping mall, it was time to go back home - to our small but beautiful 'flower room'. Now it was time to pack our backpacks. Because the next day we were moving to a new neighborhood.
In conclusion, we can both say that our hosts were super nice and friendly. We are very grateful to them for taking us in when we were in need.
Thank you very much to Helen and Ed! :)
