August 24th and 25th - we're heading to the highest point of the country. Not comfortable in just a few minutes with a cable car or cogwheel train, but with our own muscle power!
We're going with a guide and in a group, all pleasant people. We start in Garmisch at the ski jumping hills. Then we go through the Partnach Gorge, an impressive, wild gorge. After that, the path slowly winds further up, along the Partnach and mostly through the forest.
After a relaxed hike, we reach the Reintalangerhütte, our accommodation for the night. We're lucky and don't have to share the sleeping quarters with too many hikers 😀.
After a night with enough sleep, we head towards the summit on the 25th. We have to overcome 1,600 meters in altitude. The path gradually becomes steeper, more difficult, and soon reaches the tree line. Then we pass the Knorrhütte. We finally reach the last, now steep ascent through remaining snow fields. Almost at the top, we go over rocks. However, the path is well secured with ropes. Then the summit!!! ..and suddenly there are many people again, thanks to technology. The distant view is unfortunately obscured by clouds, but it's still a breathtaking panorama up there.
The realization of the day: I can be proud of my achievements!!!
The word of the day: Mountain happiness.
