The Sunday ended as unpretentious as it started. After the cold night and dog pee, I spent the rest of the day battling tired legs, headwinds, and rain. Since I was making slow progress and somehow needed to dry my tent overnight, I spontaneously reserved an Airbnb just before Freiburg and used the shower to dry my tent. The next day, I only went 10 km further to the outskirts of Freiburg - here I am staying for two nights in a shared house directly on the river. I actually wanted to relax a bit and work on my blog, but unfortunately, I couldn't. Since my self-made luggage construction on the front wheel does not balance the weight on the rear wheel optimally, I now had to take care of a front luggage rack (lowrider) including bags. For that, I had to visit a total of five bike shops - one had only cheap lowriders and no bags, another had only bags but not the right ones, etc. In the end, I ended up at a competent bike workshop where you can help yourself with bike repairs. So this afternoon, I went there again to assemble everything - quite a challenge and fiddly work for me, even though I actually enjoy tinkering. But when it comes to bikes, I simply don't have the knowledge, which is not optimal for a tour like this, but as they say, you grow with your tasks. Now let's hope that the construction holds up and I can climb the hills more easily - because tomorrow it's 72 km further into beautiful Switzerland! Next Stop: Basel😉
