26.01.2023 7 Miles Flat Creek in Alpine NP

We simply stayed here, here we know what we have, campers 100 m to the right and 100 m to the left, no noise, swimming possibility 10 m further and hiking trails if we want. So, my request is, we stay here, Frank is outvoted. We rest here for a day.

In the morning, we hike a track along the river until it doesn't go any further and another one over the hill until the floodway makes the decision easy for us, wet shoes or turn back. We decide unanimously, we go back.

We rest, that's necessary after almost 4 weeks and we enjoy it. The river is nearby and on the way to swim, I see the 2nd snake of our holiday, a small black one. It quickly disappears into the rocks and is initially no danger to me.

Later, I ask a fellow camper, and he is sure that the snake is venomous. Yeah, and I'm a clumsy person. I'm happy about snake number 2.

We spend a quiet afternoon and evening, looking into our small campfire. Today we really burned all the wood, we will have to buy more. But be careful when buying wood: red gum doesn't burn well.
