The following text, which we found on www.quaeldich.de, aptly describes our motivation:
But first, something philosophical about pass hunting
A certain pull of the pass hunt on the quäldich community can already be seen; Tobias also only regained his first place from Velocipedicus. But one thing is clear: Tobias doesn't do passes to win a competition, and I don't do passes to win a competition. I drive passes to experience something, to expand my horizons, to discover surprises, to question monuments. There is nothing to be gained by chasing passes. I see it as an incentive. Nothing else.
Beat: of course my goal is to see the passes at the bottom left after the journey in violet (= ridden). So of the 58 Alpine passes over 2000m, I would only be missing the Großglockner, which I couldn't do in Austria at the beginning of September due to storms.
