The little Bryce

We make our way to Bryce Canyon. Along the way, we come across the first town in the state of Utah. Kanab is very beautiful and looks more like Route 66 than many places on the actual route. The classic diner signs here are shiny and well-maintained, nothing is run down, and everything looks like it's from the first part of 'Back to the Future'.

We get caught by a sign. There's a 30% discount on LEVIS pants. We buy shorts because it was so hot until then. But from then on, we start to freeze. After all, we're at 3000 meters above sea level, and at night it's 5 degrees Celsius. We put on tracksuits and wrap ourselves in blankets, leaving only a small opening to breathe.

But we're not there yet. First, we have to reach Bryce Canyon. But actually, it's already too late for this top park, so we decide to camp in another national park 20 kilometers before. We end up in Red Canyon and soon realize why it's also called the little Bryce Canyon.

We can hike through rock formations here and practically get up close to 200 million years of Earth's history. We go on a short hike for two hours, which turns into an adventure of climbing.

So we're hungry enough to barbecue and already quite tired in daylight. Conveniently, we have a spot right across from the restroom, also known as the outhouse. This has two advantages. First, the short distance, and second, the unobstructed view of the other customers as they approach and leave this dubious place. We have fun, but then night comes. See above.
