13.05.2024 - Our first day at Caritas International

After breakfast we set off on foot to Caritas International and are warmly welcomed by Tom Dievrient/Advocacy coordinator.

From him and his team we receive a lot of interesting information about how Caritas is structured here, what area of effect and influence they have and also what daily challenges they are confronted with.

There is a lot of discussion, questions and information when the asylum procedure/system in Belgium is presented to us. We are all the more excited to be able to gain even more direct insight into the practical work here tomorrow.

In a final presentation we are told what exactly the Caritas Help Desk does for the Ukrainian refugees.

Today, after the interesting technical input and exchange, we are once again taking in the atmosphere of Brussels...with lovely early summer temperatures, it is particularly fun to explore this incredibly diverse city.
