On July 19-20, we stayed one night at a campsite in Carcassonne. I really wanted to see the city because I used to play the game with my mom. Now I know why the game is called that. Since it was so hot, I was glad there was a pool. We didn't go to the old town until around 5pm. From the outside, it looks like a normal castle, but inside it's bustling with activity. Like a little city with restaurants, bars, and shops all themed around knights. There were interactive activities for both kids and adults. Great little stores. It definitely has charm and I would recommend anyone nearby to stop by and check it out.
The next day, we felt like we were driving past sunflower fields the whole time. We had picked out a lake to swim in and relax a bit. When we arrived, we found a small and cute spot. It was more of a pit than a real lake, but that didn't matter, it just meant we got a mud pack. Supposedly good for the skin :D
On July 22nd, we continued on to Auch. I had heard that there was a market here. The fresh vegetables and fruits were really great. We bought strawberries and apricots. We never bought fresh fish because it was just too hot and the cooler is not the same as a refrigerator. The little town turned out to be very beautiful. The church on top of the hill, the cute town where we had breakfast. We really loved the little shops and boutiques. The fashion is really nice and reasonably priced. We always wonder in towns like these how these shops can survive...especially in the winter or when there's no tourism.
We drove to Condom (July 21-23) and continued to a campsite. Here we treated ourselves to a 3-course meal at a restaurant just 5 steps away in the evening. Enjoying the wonderful air and almost being alone in the restaurant, we enjoyed the time and eating out, which wouldn't be possible for much longer.... Thanks to the pocket money I occasionally received, we were able to treat ourselves like that occasionally. Thanks, Mom and Dad :*
