Day 09 - Gamvik to Skarsvåg / North Cape
Today we set off on another stretch towards the next destination. The weather was mostly sunny as we headed towards the touristy North Cape on Magerøya, the barren island....

This Tuesday was all about two attractions. First, we participated in a bird safari. We took a minibus from Honningsvåg to Gjesvær and then a small ship to the bird islands off the coast of the fishing village. During this tour, we were able to see many birds:
Puffins, Sea eagles, Guillemots, Northern Gannets, Kittiwakes, and several others. Additionally, the occasional seal popped up in between. It was really a lot of fun.
In the afternoon, we then walked to an impressive rock formation near our accommodation in Skarsvåg. This is called Kirkeporten, the Church Gate. It is particularly impressive when you walk through it yourself, as it is only when compared to your own tiny size that you truly grasp its size.
In the evening, we treated ourselves to a very delicious meal at a nearby fish restaurant with the lovely motto 'In Cod we trust'. 😉
